For my last class, I was told to teach vocabulary about how to move inside a mall or a small department store. To start the class, I decided to use a warm up called ¨ Pin the tail to the Donkey¨. For the activity, students were divided in two groups. There was one leader per group. The leader of the group was blindfolded and the members of the group gave him/her directions to reach the picture of the donkey and collocate the tail in the right point. Students worked nice giving the directions and they enjoyed the activity a lot.

The vocabulary was presented with some pictures of a mall which had more than one floor. I gave them some examples to use vocabulary to move around in the store. Also, vocabulary to go up or go down in the building.

For the practice phase, I asked them to work in pairs and gave them some fill in the blank exercises in which they had to write the appropriate information to get a specific department store in a picture. Also, they had to answer some questions giving directions to a person that wanted to go to a specific place in the building. At the end of the class, they worked in pairs to create an original conversation using the vocabulary studied in class.

For my future class, I will try to be careful at the moment the students choose the partners because they lost much time. Also, they tend to speak things not related with the class. So, I will try to choose the pairs for them.

For the second class, I was told to teach some vocabulary about good and bad travel experiences. I started the class with a little review of the topic studied the class before.

Then, I presented the new vocabulary with some examples. Students always paid attention to the explanation about the new vocabulary. Also, I used a little reading with examples of adjectives describing good and bad experiences for a better understanding of the main vocabulary.

In the practice phase, students used the same reading to find the adjectives that describes good and bad travel experiences. Some of the students underlined more adjectives that were not related with the main idea, but most of them did a great job.

Also, they worked on some fill in the blank activities. They had to circle the adjectives that best describes the experiences in the reading.

At the end of the class, students worked on pairs. In addition, they had to create an original conversation using adjectives to describe good or bad experiences about a travel experience they have had in the past.

For my future teaching experiences, I will try to include more group activities for the students because they will have more opportunities to interact and practice the language.

This time, I worked with the basic level. I was told to work with simple past structure. At the beginning of the class, I developed a warm up activity in which I divided the class in three groups. I dictated some verbs to the students in the base form. So, students had to write the verbs in simple past tense in a poster in the wall. At the end of the activity, the students that had more verbs written correctly were the winners.

I presented the topic with a little reading. I always emphasized in the pronunciation of the verbs in past. Also, the students read the paragraph. I elicited them to emphasize the pronunciation of the verbs in the past.

I presented the grammar in a quick review with a lot of examples. Students were focused on the examples that I gave.

In the practice phase, students worked on fill in the blank activities.  Most of the students worked smoothly. Also, I developed ¨find someone who¨, activity in which the students had to move around the class asking their classmates for some information about some activities. The students had to use questions in simple past to get the information.

In future classes, I would work in transition of the activities. I have to find a way in which students don’t realize about the change from one activity to another. So, this will help to maintain their interest and concentration in the activities.
