This time, I worked with the
basic level. I was told to work with simple past structure. At the beginning of
the class, I developed a warm up activity in which I divided the class in three
groups. I dictated some verbs to the students in the base form. So, students
had to write the verbs in simple past tense in a poster in the wall. At the end
of the activity, the students that had more verbs written correctly were the winners.
I presented the topic with a
little reading. I always emphasized in the pronunciation of the verbs in past. Also,
the students read the paragraph. I elicited them to emphasize the pronunciation
of the verbs in the past.
I presented the grammar in a
quick review with a lot of examples. Students were focused on the examples that
I gave.
In the practice phase,
students worked on fill in the blank activities. Most of the students worked smoothly. Also, I
developed ¨find someone who¨, activity in which the students had to move around
the class asking their classmates for some information about some activities. The
students had to use questions in simple past to get the information.
In future classes, I would
work in transition of the activities. I have to find a way in which students
don’t realize about the change from one activity to another. So, this will help
to maintain their interest and concentration in the activities.
